Hope Through Yoga
Nineteen year old Naomi Kingery was born and raised as a missionary kid between Bangalore, India and Cedar Hill, Texas. Her family is now living in Simi Valley, California where she goes to school and teaches yoga. At the age of twelve she was diagnosed with type 1 juvenile diabetes and the disease had a bigger impact on her life than anyone could have ever imagined.
She took some beginner yoga classes to help stabilize her blood sugar and pretty soon fell in love with the 5000 year old movement modality. A few months later she was motivated to accomplish her new dream in life- to help diabetics and other people through yoga.
With the help of Emma Barton at the Shivaloka yoga school, she became a certified yoga therapist. She created Hope Through Yoga at the age of 13 and since then has taught yoga classes around the world. Soon after, she released her Cd Rom "Yoga... Hope For Juvenile Diabetes". And at the age of 18 she published her first book, "Sugar Free Me", and completed her first Dvd "Yoga with a Christian Twist".
What's new: Naomi was featured in the December '08 issue of ADA's magazine Diabetes Forecast! Read the article here.
